MEDIATION
Mediation is a confidential, voluntary process where the parties in dispute (such as a supervisor and employee) come together in a neutral space to be heard, discuss the issue, and possibly come up with solutions to the problem.
Parties to a mediation may chose the end the mediation at any time.
As a mediator, Kim Ruch Alegant does not offer advice or opinions on the issues. Her job is to facilitate discussion and assist in brainstorming solutions. If a solution is agreed upon, Ms. Alegant will assist in writing down the agreement, and each of the parties will sign it. Each party will receive a copy of the agreement when the mediation is completed.
ARBITRATION
Arbitration is a process where the parties select Ms. Alegant as the arbitrator. The parties then present their case to Ms. Alegant, who takes all the facts and opinions into consideration. She then determines whether an award should be made, and if so, for how much. A written decision is sent to each of the parties.
